The Dismukes moved to Ralls January 15, 1952, from Lamesa where they had lived for 18 months. They had moved there from Austin. They family name "Dismukes," is a derivative from the French name Des Muex. Kismukes is the anglo form of Des Muex. The family history in the United States dates back to 1692. The family is a by-product of the persecution of the French Huguenots.The Dismukes family, as of the day they moved to Ralls, was composed of Willis "Diz," Irma, Peggy and Eddie. Giselle, the youngest daughter, was born in Ralls. Eddie was born in Scott and White Hospital in Temple. Peggy is the oldest daughter. They are all married. Peggy Dismukes married Tommy Updyke of Ceiling, Oklahoma. They have two children, Mike and Tisha. They are now living in Walsh, Colorado.
Eddie Dismukes married Sandra Lindley of Ralls and they have two children. They are Lisa, and Shay. They are now living in San Angelo.
Giselle Dismukes married Elvon Rose of Walsh, Colorado, and they have two children, Joey, Rose and Cory Rose. Both children are now living in Walsh, Colorado.

RALLS (Special) - Services for Willis H. "Diz" Dismukes, 74, of Ralls will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Morrow, pastor, officiating.The Rev. Lee Fuller of Fritch and the Rev. Dale Cain of Lubbock also will officiate.
Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.
Dismukes died at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday in Lubbock General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born in McDade and moved from Lamesa to Ralls in 1952. He received degrees from San Marcos Teachers College, Baylor University, the University of Texas School of Pharmacology. He operated Dismukes Pharmacy in Ralls until his retirement in 1973. He was a member and Deacon with First Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School. He was a Navy veteran and was named Ralls Citizen Through the Years in 1976. He was a member and past president of the Rotary Club and PTA and a member of Ralls Senior Citizens, the Crosby County Child Welfare Board, the Ralls School Board and the Ralls Museum Board. He was a Mason. He married Irma Beaty on Sept. 8, 1938, in Lockhart.

Services for Irma Dismukes, 85, of Ralls were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2003 in the Ralls First Baptist Church with Rev. Floyd Haddock and Rev. Ken Bevel officiating. Burial followed in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.Mrs. Dismukes passed away Saturday morning, December 6, 2003 in Lubbock's Garrison Geriatric Care Center. She was born July 26, 1918 in Waelder, Texas [to Robert Perry and Lillian McMullen Beaty.] She married Willis H. "Diz" Dismukes September 8, 1938 in New Braunfels, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1989.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church where she had worked with various youth groups. She was a member of the Ralls Senior Citizens, the Prairie Thimble Quilting Club and the PTA. She worked with the Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts and, in 1995, she was honored as Ralls Chamber of Commerce Citizen Through the Years. She moved to Ralls in 1952 from Lamesa and was a former resident of Austin.
Survivors include a son and his wife; Eddie, and Janis Dismukes of Sangelo; two daughters, Peggy Updyke and her husband Tommy of Temple and Giselle Dismukes of Ralls; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The family suggest memorials be made to either the Ralls Senior Citizens or the First Baptist Church GA´s and RA´s.
Pall Bearers were Joey Rose, Cody Rose, Clay Rose, Mike Updyke, James Caddell and Joey Caddell.
