Services for Durwood W. Crain, 84, of Dallas are pending with Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

He died Friday at his residence in Dallas. The Dallas County Medical Examiner is withholding a ruling in the death pending autopsy results.

He was born in Jones County. He married Lorene Stevens January 31, 1926, in Idalou. She died February 25, 1980. He was band director for several Texas high schools and a former band director for Abilene Christian University. He was a member of Texas Music Education Association and Texas State Teachers Association. He worked in church missions in Dallas, McKinney and Mexico. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Durwood W. Jr. of Dumas and Kyle of Richardson; and a daughter, Patty Andrews of Dallas.
