A.J. Cowley Service PictureRALLS (Special) — Graveside services for A.J. Cowley, 83, of Cone will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Ralls Cemetery with the Rev. Russ Byard, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

He died at 5:29 a.m. Thursday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Dallas and moved to Crosby County in 1919. He graduated from Ralls High School and attended Texas Tech College. He married Linnie Mae Northcutt on Nov. 22, 1951, in Hobbs, N.M. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He was a farmer and cotton ginner and a charter member of the Ralls Lions Club. He was the gatekeeper at the Ralls Lions Club rodeos and a member of the Ralls Volunteer Fire Department and the Air Stream Travel Club.

Survivors include his wife; and two sisters, Berty Tidwell of Big Spring and Anne Johnson of Fort Worth.

Linnie Cowley photo Linnie Mae Cowley, 100, of Lubbock formally of Ralls, passed away Friday, June 02, 2017 in Lubbock. Linnie was born on October 2, 1916 in Chattanooga Oklahoma to William and Ada Northcutt. She married A.J. Cowley on November 22, 1951 in Hobbs, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1991. Linnie attended interior design school in New York and owned an interior design shop in Midland for several years, and also had a beauty shop in Ralls for many years. After marring A.J., they spent many years traveling around the country in their Airstream Travel trailer, and also enjoyed gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband.

She is survived by two nieces; Junella Cotton, of Alamogordo, NM., and Jan Davidson and husband Bobby of Lubbock. Great nieces; Cynthia Tallman and husband Charlie of Bloomfield N.M., Gloria DeTemple and husband David of Farmington N.M., Thelma Degas and husband Chris of Odessa, Julie McCormich and husband Jeff of Care Free Az., Dee Dee Zimmerman and husband Kelly of Lubbock, and Shawna Sheilds and husband George of Lubbock. Linnie also leaves a great nephew; Wayne Procter and wife Darcie of Litchfield Park AZ., and a sister in-law Margie Cowley, and numerous great-great nieces and nephews. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday June 5, 2017 at the Ralls Cemetery Chapel. Burial will follow in the Ralls Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. A visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00 p.m. till 4:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
