J.L. Cornwell

U.S.Flag   Service for J.L. Cornwell, 65, of Ralls were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 18, 1989, in First Baptist Church of Ralls with the Rev. Jim Morrow, pastor, and Dennis May, minister of Emma Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial was in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

He died at 7:10 a.m. Sunday, Apr. 16, 1989 at his residence. Justice of the Peace Jim S. Travis ruled natural causes in his death.

Cornwell was born in Iredell and moved to Ralls in 1924. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Iva Jo Huckabay on Dec. 25, 1944, in Ralls. He was a farmer and a member of Ralls First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Johnny Wayne of Duncan, Okla., and Keith of Lubbock; a daughter, Jo Retta Knight of Oklahoma City, Okla; a sister, Irene Cox of Lubbock; and six grandchildren.
