Services for Herman J. Cornelius, 86, of Ralls were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 1987 in the Ralls First Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Fuller, pastor, and Rev. John Goss, retired Baptist minister from Ralls officiating.

Burial was under direction of Carter Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Mr. Cornelius died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 1987 in the Crosbyton Hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was born August 4, 1900 in Leesburg, Alabama and married Ione Jones July 26, 1921 in Mt. Calm, Texas. He was a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church where he was Superintendent of Sunday School for several years and had taught Sunday School Classes. He was a Deacon since age 23. He was a member of the Emma Masonic Lodge #931.

He was a farmer, and had operated Magnolia Wholesale and Service Station and worked Lynch-Tinnin Dept. Store and later Danner´s Dept. Store and had operated Ralls Laundromat for several years.

He moved to Ralls January 9, 1931 from Waco.

Survivors include: Wife; Ione Cornelius of Ralls; 3 sons: Herman, Jr. and Gene of Ralls and Bob, Bagwell, Texas; 1 Daughter: Jane Ann Davis of Ralls; 3 Brothers: Ray Cornelius of Grapevine, Texas, Roy Cornelius of Hubbard, Texas and J.A. (Buck) Cornelius of Alamo, Texas; 1 Sister; Lillian Martin of Quanah; 9 Grandchildren; 15 Great-grandchildren; 1 Great-great-grandchild.

Services for Julia Ione Cornelius, 93, of Ralls were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 1996, in the Ralls First Baptist Church with Rev. Floyd Haddock, pastor of the Shamrock First Baptist Church, and Rev. Jim Morrow, pastor of the Ralls First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial was in the Ralls Cemetery under the direction of the Adams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cornelius died at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 1996, in the Crosbyton Hospital following an illness.

She was born May 25, 1903, in Mt. Calm, TX, and married Herman Jasper Cornelius July 26, 1921, in Mt. Calm. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1987.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church and the Ralls Quilting Club. She was employed at Lynch Department Store in Ralls for 17 years before her retirement in 1968. She moved to Ralls Jan. 9, 1932, from Waco.

A son, Herman Cornelius, Jr., preceded her in death July 16, 1992.

Survivors include two sons, Gene Cornelius of Lubbock and Bob Cornelius of Bagwell, TX; one daughter, Jane Ann Davis of Ralls; 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Grandsons were pall bearers.
