Services for Jo Chance, 67, of Ralls were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 1996, in the Ralls First United Methodist Church with Rev. Clark Williams, pastor of the Floydada First United Methodist Church and Rev. Ron Colwell, pastor of the Ralls First United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial followed in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Mrs. Chance died at 5:40 a.m. Monday, July 1, 1996, in Lubbock´s St. Mary Hospital following an illness.
She was born May 10, 1929, at Ralls and married Raymond Chance Feb. 8, 1946, in Post. She was a homemaker and a member of the Emma Church of Christ in Ralls.
She was a 30-year--member of the VFW Auxiliary #2466. She was a former Boy Scout Den Mother. She lived in the Ralls area all her life.
Survivors included her husband, Raymond, of Ralls; two sons, Gerald Chance of Irving, and Kenny and his wife, DeChance of Floydada; one brother, E.R. Melton of Plainview; three sisters, Dude Waller of Lubbock, Sally Houchin of Petersburg, and Elwanna McHam of Levelland; two grandchildren, Melode Watson and her husband, Ed, of Ralls, and Randy Chance of Canyon; one great-grandson, Dakotah Chance Watson of Ralls.

Graveside services for Raymond Chance, 85, of Ralls were at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the Ralls Cemetery with Charles Ball officiating. Arrangements were under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Raymond passed away on December 23, 2007 at his home.
He was born on January 7, 1922 in Ralls to the late Lewis Webster and Mattie (Benton) Chance. On February 8, 1947 he married Jo Melton in Post. She preceded him in death on July 1, 1996. Raymond attended school in Lubbock then graduated from Ralls High School in 1939. In August of 1942 he joined the US Navy and entered the 37th Battalion of the Seabees and was a Gunner's Mate 3rd Class. Raymond spent most of his service in the South Pacific. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2466 in Lubbock. Raymond had lived most of his life in Crosby County and was a farmer. He had served on the boards of Owens Co-Op Gin and Farmers Home Administration.
He is preceded in death by three brothers, L. W. Chance, Cecil Chance and Edgar Chance and four sisters, Louise Callahan, Lois Chance, Francys Whadford and Juanita Moncrief.
Survivors include; two sons; Gerald of Irving, Kenny and wife De of Floydada, a brother; Bill and wife Pat of Clyde, two grandchildren; Melode Watson and husband Ed of Ralls, Randy Chance and wife Haley of Lubbock and two great grandchildren; Huntor and Dakotah Watson both of Ralls.
