Mike Ellis Brockett, another longtime Crosby County resident, died Monday morning in St. Mary´s Hospital in Lubbock. Mr. Brockett, 81, had lived in Ralls since 1920.

Funeral rites were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Ralls First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dick Richards, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in Ralls Cemetery.

Born Feb. 14, 1897 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Mr. Brockett was married to Mabel C. Hawkins in Denton, July 9, 1916. She preceded her husband in death March 11, 1975.

The couple moved to Ralls 58 years ago from Denton.

Mr. Brockett was selected as Ralls "Citizen Through the Year" three years ago and the award was presented that year at the Ralls Chamber of Commerce Banquet. He was a member of the Ralls First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Clifton W. Brockett of Lubbock and Merle E. Brockett of Alamogordo, NM; one daughter, Mrs. Bernice Hoppes of Lubbock; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and two great great grandsons.

Grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were great grandsons.
