Services for Horace William Blevins, 93, of Lubbock, were held at 2:00 Friday, June 22, 2007 at St. John's United Methodist Church with Rev Bobby McMillan and Rev Don Echols officiating. Burial followed in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.Mr. Blevins passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2007 in Lubbock's Covenant Medical Center. He was born Sept. 25, 1913 in Keller, Texas to the late Gaines and Maddie (Biggs) Blevins. On November 27, 1936 he married Laura Jean Rhew in Lubbock.
Horace was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. A farmer, retiring in 1948, he had also worked for Gifford-Hill and Holland Gardens. He moved to Lubbock from Idalou. He is survived by his wife Laura Blevins of Lubbock.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to service time at the St. John's United Methodist Church.

Laura Jean Blevins, age 90, died peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Lakeside Rehabilitation and Care Center in Lubbock. She was born on December 7, 1917 to Eugene and Laura Routt Rhew in Ladonia, Texas. Laura married the love of her life Horace Blevins on November 27, 1936 in Lubbock. As newlyweds they farmed outside of Lorenzo and later Idalou. After several years, they left farming and moved to Lubbock where they continued their 70 happy years of marriage. Laura Jean devoted her whole life to being a loving wife and making a good home for Horace and herself. She was preceded in death June 20, 2007 by her husband Horace. Also preceding in death are her father Eugene Rhew, her mother Laura Rhew Sales, a stepfather John Sales, a brother Harold Rhew and wife Stella, and a stepbrother, Herman Sales.She is survived by a brother Jack Rhew and wife Teresia, three Stepbrothers, A. J. Sales and wife June of North Richland Hills, Billy Reeves Sales and wife Martha of Wolfforth and John D. Sales of Lorenzo, a stepsister, Sarah Jane Dycus and husband J. C. (Bugs) of Lubbock, seven nieces and seven nephews. Laura and Horace were longtime members of St. John's United Methodist Church on University Avenue in Lubbock so in lieu of flowers please feel free to make a memorial donation to that church of a charity of your choice.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at St. John's United Methodist Church in Lubbock with Rev. Archie Echols and Rev. Daniel Echols officiating. Viewing will be at 9:30 AM at the church preceding the service. Burial will follow at the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
