Biography

Grace Hellen SMYER, daughter of James Sidney SMYER and Dovie Isabell WHITENER, was born September 06, 1893 in Whitener, Madison Co., Arkansas, and died January 25, 1976 in Lubbock, Lubbock County, TX. She married Butler Christopher ADAMS, January 23, 1910 in Lorenzo, Crosby Co., TX. Butler was the son of Willis ADAMS. He was born October 12, 1888 in Rock Castle, Kentucky, and died October 06, 1954 in Dickens, Dickens Co., TX.

Obituary

Mrs. Grace Helen Adams, 82, 8311 44th St. Lubbock, passed away July 3 at St. Mary´s Hospital after a lengthy illness.

A longtime resident of Ralls, she moved to Lubbock in 1968. For the past five and one half years she had made her home with a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Griffith.

Funeral services were held July 6 at the Emma Church of Christ in Ralls. Officiating was Rev. Robert Coleman of Lubbockview Christian Church and Creed Mullins, Emma Church of Christ minister.

Survivors include daughters, Connie Griffith of Lubbock, Bonnie Howard of San Antonio and Annie Phipps of Amarillo; sons, Alvie, Jimmy and Billy Adams of Ralls; a sister, Mrs. Bertie Vaughan of Ralls; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

Interment was in Ralls cemetery, arrangements with Rix Funeral Home of Lubbock.
