Services for Bobby Gene Smith, 70, of Lorenzo will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 21, 2004 at the Lorenzo First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Williams, pastor, and Owen Carr, minister of the Church of Christ in Petersburg officiating. Burial will be in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.

He died Thursday, June 17, 2004 at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born September 14, 1933 in Roswell, New Mexico to Albert O. Sr. and Muriel Tudor Smith. On May 24, 1956 he married Mary Jo Smith in Lorenzo, Texas.

He graduated from Lorenzo High School in 1950. He was a member of the Lorenzo First United Methodist Church. He was a farmer and had lived in the Lorenzo and Becton areas all his life. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is preceded in death by two sisters; Brooxie Anthony in 1986 and Betty Gail Smith in 1937. Survivors include; his wife Mary Jo Smith of Lorenzo, a son and his wife Todd and Carrie Smith of Robinson, Texas, two daughters and their husbands; Sydney and Joey Nichols of Petersburg and Stacy and Jeff Rothenberger of Brentwood, Tenn., two brothers; A. O. Smith, Jr. of Lubbock and Gary Smith of Panama City, Florida, a sister; Pat Mankins of Shallowater, eight grandchildren; Jody and wife Leigh Ann Nichols of Lubbock, J'Rae, Taylor and Paige Nichols of Petersburg, Travis and Alyse Rothenberger of Brentwood, Tn, and Trent and Tanner Smith of Robinson, Tx.

The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 6 PM on Sunday at Adams Funeral Home in Lorenzo. The family suggests memorials to the Lorenzo First United Methodist Church P. O. Drawer D Lorenzo, Texas 79343.

Lubbock — Graveside services for Mary Jo Smith, 79, formerly of Lorenzo, will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 25, at the Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo. She died Sunday, June 22, 2014, in Lubbock.

She was born June 2, 1935, in Lubbock, Texas, to Edward Simmons Smith and Maudie Smith. She graduated from Lorenzo High School in 1952. She graduated from Texas Tech in 1956, and on May 24, 1956, married Bobby Gene Smith in Lorenzo. He died in 2004. She was a former member of Lorenzo First United Methodist Church. She served as a teacher at Lorenzo ISD from 1956-57 and from 1968-1994. After retirement from teaching, she served as the librarian for the Lorenzo Branch of the Crosby County Library until 2007. She moved to Cottage Village in Lubbock in 2009.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Ronald C. Smith.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands; Sydney and Joey Nichols of Petersburg and Stacy and Jeff Rothenberger of Brentwood, Tennessee; a son and his wife, Todd and Carrie Smith of Robinson, Texas; a brother, Edward S. Smith of Lubbock; eight grandchildren, Jody and wife Leigh Ann Nichols of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, J�Rae and husband Javier Pineda of Shallowater, Taylor and Paige Nichols of Petersburg, Travis and Alyse Rothenberger of Brentwood, Tenn., and Trent and Tanner Smith of Robinson; and three great grandchildren, Jackson, Mason, and Karis Nichols of Tennessee.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Tuesday at Adams Funeral Home in Lorenzo.

The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer�s Association.
