LORENZO (Special) Memorial services for Fannie Laura Taylor, 95, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church.

Burial will be in the Lorenzo cemetery under the direction of Chapel of Hope Mortuary of Hobbs, N.M.

She died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at the Lea Regional Medical Center in Hobbs.

She was born on March 9, 1904, near Stewards Mill, Texas. She married Garland D. Taylor on May 5, 1928, at Palo Pinto, Texas. He preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 1980. She and her husband moved to Lubbock in 1934. They were both schoolteachers. She taught first grade at Idalou for many years and then taught at Lorenzo until her retirement. She taught her first school at age 16 on a Texas teachers' certificate. She obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees after 40 years of age from Texas Tech. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lorenzo. She was preceded in death by a son, John Arden Taylor, in May 1998.

Survivors include a daughter, Laura Nan Craig of Hobbs; a son, Garland D. Taylor Jr. of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
