Services for Ronald C. Smith, 65, of Lorenzo were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 11, 1998, at the Lorenzo First Baptist Church with the Rev. Namiqa Shipman, pastor of Lorenzo First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial was in the Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.
He died at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 1998, at Lubbock's Methodist Hospital.He was born April 19, 1933, in Lubbock. He married Glenna Marlar on May 25, 1954 in Lorenzo. He was a member of the Lorenzo First United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Lorenzo High School and Texas Tech, where he was a charter member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a farmer and a partner in Lor-Tex Agency Realtors and Appraisal.
He was a member of the Lorenzo City Council, Chamber of Commerce, Lorenzo Lions Club, Jaycees, the Lorenzo Co-Op Gin Board, the High Plains Water Board and the Lorenzo Country Club.
He was named Lorenzo's "Outstanding Citizen" in 1992. He lived in Lorenzo all his life, except for 3 years when he lived in Corpus Christi. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was also a former member of the Lorenzo School Board.
A son, Kyle Smith preceded him in death on April 9, 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Glenna Smith of Lorenzo; a son, Kelly Smith of Lorenzo; a brother, Edward S. Smith of Lorenzo; and a sister, Mary Jo Smith of Lorenzo.

Services for Glenna Smith, 76, of Lubbock, formerly of Lorenzo will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in the Lorenzo First United Methodist Church with Paul Hayden and Richard Drachenberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Adams funeral Home of Lorenzo.
Glenna passed away Monday, June 22, 2009 in Lubbock. She was born August 19, 1932 in Sunnyside, Texas to Lannie Ruth (Johnson) and Paul Beck Marlar. She married Ronald C. Smith May 25, 1954 in Lorenzo. He preceded her in death May 9, 1998. Also preceding her in death was a son, Ronald Kyle Smith on April 9, 1993.
Glenna was a member of the Lorenzo First United Methodist Church. She taught school at Lorenzo, Petersburg, and Cal Allen.She moved to Lubbock in 1999 from Lorenzo.
Survivors include her loving companion, Carmel Eastham of Lubbock, her mother, Lannie Ruth Marlar of Lubbock, a son Kelly Smith of Dallas, a brother, Bricky Marlar and wife Bobbie of Odessa, two sisters, Jo Hayden and husband Jeff of Moore, Oklahoma and Novice Bartlett and husband Jerry of Ransom Canyon, Tx, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, who lovingly referred to Glenna as their favorite aunt.
