LORENZO (Special) - Services for Edward Simmons Smith Sr., 77, of Lubbock and a former longtime Lorenzo resident, will be at 2 p.m. today in the Lorenzo Methodist Church with the Rev. Kiel Quesenberry and the Rev. Fred Meeks, officiating.

Burial will be in Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of Ralls.

Smith died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday in Highland Hospital in Lubbock following a lengthy illness.

A native of Franklin, he had been a resident of the South Plains area since 1907, moving to Lorenzo in 1910. He had been living in Lubbock for the past few years. Smith farmed and operated a Conoco Oil wholesale agency here the past 49 years.

Survivors include his wife, Frances; two sons, Edward S. Jr., and Ronald C., both of Lorenzo; a daughter, Mrs. Bobby G. Smith of Lorenzo; a brother, T.E. of Lorenzo; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
