A. J. Sanders, Lorenzo, passed away Saturday, June 30, 1962 at 7:30 a.m. at Poplar Grove Convalescent Home in Lubbock.

Mr. Sanders was born July 1, 1873 in Whitener, Madison County, Arkansas to Samuel B. and Nancy N. Vaughan Sanders. He married Dora Ada Hinson February 28, 1893 in Madison Co., Arkansas. Mr. and Mrs. Sanders moved from Arkansas to the Lorenzo area in 1914 where they remained until their deaths. He was a retired farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church in Lorenzo.

Funeral services were held in the Lorenzo First Baptist Church. The Rev. C. B. Stovall, Abernathy, interim minister officiated. The Rev. P. D. Fullingim, pastor of Olivet Baptist Church, Lubbock, assisted. Burial was in the Lorenzo Cemetery.

His wife, Dora Ada, and a son, Carnel O. Sanders (1894 - 1896), preceded Mr. Sanders in death.

A. J. was survived by three sons, Utah Sanders of California, Sam Sanders and Ottis Sanders, both of Idalou; two sisters, Mrs. H. S. Bennett of Des Moines, Washington, and Mrs. Kelly Frost of Rogers, Arkansas; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
