Services for Melanie Gail Reid, 59, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Lorenzo First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Golden officiating. Burial was at Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.

She died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock.

She was born August 10, 1943, in Tahoka. She married Don Reid, Sr., on March 21, 1964, in Amarillo. She was a member of the Lorenzo First Baptist Church and a 1961 graduate of Ralls High School. She was a 1964 graduate of Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse for 39 years, 13 of those years as an instructor at South Plains College. She moved to Lorenzo in 1975 from Idalou.

Survivors include her husband, Don of Lorenzo; two sons, Don Reid, Jr. of Lubbock and Kelly Reid of Wolfforth; a daughter, Sherri Reid of Plainview; a brother, Orville Lightner of Lubbock; two sisters, Bonnie Griffin of Crosbyton and Shirley Simpson of Denver City; and 10 grandchildren.
