Obituary

Delbert C. Rainwater
Longtime Idalou resident and former police chief Delbert C. Rainwater was buried in the Lorenzo Cemetery after a funeral service at 2PM Saturday, September 29, 1979, at Rix Chapel in Lubbock.

B. C. Stapleton, former minister of the Idalou Church of Christ, officiated.

Born November 13, 1903 at Anson, Rainwater was a resident of Ralls for about 25 years before moving to Bailey County for a year, then coming here in 1955. He married the former Viola Hail on December 21, 1929, at Brownfield.

Rainwater was a law enforcement officer in Idalou for 18 years, serving as chief of police for about two years.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Lee of Big Spring and Granville with the Navy at San Diego, CA; one brother, N. J. of Lubbock; two sisters, Beulah Wood of Idalou and Lottie Young of Anson; and two grandsons, Danny with the Army in Korea and Robert of Big Spring.

Viola Rainwater
LORENZO (Special) - Graveside services for Viola Rainwater, 82, of Idalou will be at 10 a.m. today in Lorenzo Cemetery with Les Carey officiating.

Interment will be directed by White Funeral Home of Idalou.

Mrs. Rainwater died Monday, Dec. 26, 1994, in Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring.

She was born on July 5, 1912, in Wood County. she married Delbert C. Rainwater on Dec. 21, 1929, in Brownfield. He died on Sept. 26, 1979. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Leo of Big Spring and Granville of Kettle Falls, Wash.; a brother, E.E. Hail of Odessa; three sisters, Mary Eaton of Anton, Minnie Reaves of Denton and Loleta VanNess of Lubbock; and two grandchildren.
