Kara Key "Booter" Pounds, 42, of Acuff passed from this life on Jan. 17, 2012. Her life will be celebrated 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, in Slaton's Bible Baptist Church with the Revs. Chris Downer and Vestal Blakely officiating and burial following in the City of Lorenzo Cemetery, under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Key was born March, 1, 1969, in Lubbock, attended school in Lorenzo, and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1987. She attended South Plains College and then became a flight attendant for Continental Airlines. She graduated from Methodist School of Nursing and worked as an LVN at St. Mary's Hospital and as an office nurse for Dr. Weldon Ash. Key married her love, Kyle Pounds on Sept. 17, 1993, in Amarillo.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kyle; her children she loved and cherished, Kutter, George and Kord, all of Acuff; mother, Karen Snow of Wolfforth; her stepfather, Joe Thompson of Lubbock; her sister, Tori Thompson of Lubbock; mother-in-law, Patsy Morris and Tommy of Lubbock; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kevin and Tammy Pounds of Acuff, and Kory and Jessica Pounds of Lipan, Texas; along with nephews, Keegan, Kaleb, Kolton and Joe Pounds, Cash, Case, and niece, Maci Robertson. She leaves behind a community of friends that loved her and will miss her dearly.
There are no accolades that are worthy of Booter's life. Her smile and funny personality will continue to light up the hearts of those who loved her so deeply. We pray that all will have "peace that passes all understanding."
The family will have visitation at the funeral home today, Jan. 21st, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A memorial fund has been established at Kyle Pounds & Sons Memorial Fund, at WesTex Federal Credit Union, 901 Ave Q, Lubbock, TX 79401.
