Obituary

Lenard Z. Miller, a resident of Ralls since 1920 died early Monday in Crosbyton Hospital following an apparent heart attack.

Services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Emma Church of Christ. Officiating were Jerry Hestand and James Eubank, both ministers from Ralls, and B. C. Stapleton of Lubbock. Burial will be in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Carter Funeral Home here.

A native of Jones County, Miller came to Ralls from Newport. He was married to Louella Oliver in 1921 in Ralls and was a retired cotton gin owner.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Calvin L. of Plainview; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Rainwater of Ralls, Mrs. Zeima Newton of Petersburg, and Mrs. Estelle Jones of Jonestown; and two grandchildren.

Services for Louella Miller, 97, of Ralls were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Emma Church of Christ with Wilburn Dennis officiating.

Burial was at Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

She died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001.

She was born March 14, 1904, in Alvarado and married Leonard Miller on Sept. 4, 1921, in Ralls. He preceded her in death. She moved to Crosby County in 1907 and worked at Ralls Chamber of Commerce and Ralls Museum. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ, where she taught Bible class.

A son, Edward, died in 1931, and another son, Calvin, died June 24, 2001. A daughter also died in 1932.

Survivors include two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
