A heart attack proved fatal early Sunday night for J.M. Melton, 78 of Lorenzo, who had lived there the past eight years.
Melton was stricken while attending a baseball game, and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Spikes hospital, where he was rushed by his wife, daughter and Lorenzo friends.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Lorenzo Baptist church. Rev. H.J. West, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Lorenzo cemetery with Marr funeral home in charge.

LORENZO (Special) Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Ethel Melton, 82, former Lorenzo resident, will be at 10 a.m. today at Lakeview community Baptist Church. The Rev. Clarence E. Pedder will officiate.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Lorenzo Cemetery with burial under the direction of Spicer Funeral Home, Memphis.
Mrs. Melton, a native of Gaylesville, Ala., died at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at Hall County Hospital, Memphis. She had been a resident of Lorenzo from 1940 until recent months when she moved to Lakeview.
She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Jeff, Spearman; five daughters, Mrs. J. B. Davenport, Noel, MO, Mrs. Jeff Watson, Lakeview, Mrs. B. L. Wheeler, Littlefield, Mrs. R. R. Jones, Crosbyton, and Mrs. F. M. Davis, Plainview; a sister, Mrs. Lemma Schillinger, Ennis, TX; three brothers, Sam Payne, Tulsa, OK, Claude Payne, Visa, CA; and Jeff Payne, Crosbyton; 23 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
