Rosary for Andrew Mayorga, 52 of Lorenzo was said at 7:00 PM, Thursday, and Friday at San Lorenzo Catholic Church in Lorenzo. Mass was celebrated at 3:00 P M, Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the same church with Rev. Roland Buxkemper officiating. Burial was in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.
Andrew passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at his home in Lorenzo. He was born on February 11, 1956 in Slaton to Pedro and Bernarda (Salas) Mayorga.
On November 19, 1977 he married Stella Minor in Lubbock.
A lifelong resident of Lorenzo, he was a member of the San Lorenzo Catholic Church, and Guenos. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus #8097 from 1990 to 1996 and was a Cursalista. He attended Men's Acts on July 17, 2007. He was a Sunday School teacher at San Lorenzo, a member of the Sacred Heart and sang in the church choir. Andrew also helped with many church events. He loved being with his family and they had gone on numerous camping trips, and recently he took them to Florida to visit Disney World. Over the years he attended all of the school functions of his three children. He was the official family photographer and loved to sing. He was a friend to everyone and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Survivors include; his wife Stella of Lorenzo, a son Vidal Mayorga of Lorenzo and two daughters; Candida and Guadalupe Mayorga both of Lorenzo, his mother, Bernarda Mayorga of Lorenzo, five brothers; Modesto Mayorga of Weimer, Daniel Mayorga of Dade City, FL, Marcos Mayorga of Lorenzo, Estansalo Mayorga of Idalou, Edward Mayorga of Lubbock, three sisters; Guadalupe Mayorga of Houston, Cecilia Velasquez of Damon and Mary Reid of Lubbock and a precious girl that was like a daughter, Mercedes Garcia of Floydada.
Serving as pallbearers will be; George Lopez, Emilo Arquello, Richard Varutia, Alfred Piseno, Ernest Fabilla, Victor Rodriguez, Daniel Mayorga and Daniel Minor.
