Services for Vera Fitzgibbons Mason, 86, of Big Springs were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 1990 in Myers & Smith Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Robert Farrell, pastor of Fourth Baptist Church, officiating.Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 1990 in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Myer & Smith Funeral Home.
She died at 8 a.m. Friday, December 29, 1989 in Mountainview Lodge nursing home after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Hico and had been a Lorenzo resident for several years before moving to Big Spring in 1983. She married Joseph Robert Fitzgibbons on Sept. 20, 1925. He died in 1948. She married Charles E. Mason in 1959. He died in 1986. She was a housewife and a Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, Frank Fitzgibbons of Big Spring and Charles Reed Fitzgibbons of Phoenix, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Lena Davis of Ozark, Ark.; three stepsons, Danny Mason of Lubbock, Dewayne Mason of Monahans and Calvin Mason of Beaumont; a sister, Ethel Ritchie of Denton; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
