Lorenzo (Special) Services for Cody Robert Marlar, 83, of Lorenzo will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Revs. Rick McGee, pastor and Don Borden, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.Burial will be in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Marlar died Sunday, July 24, 1994 in Lubbock's Highland Medical Center.
He was born on January 14, 1911, in Lakeview, TX. He married Marie Armstrong on August 20, 1932, in Clovis, N.M. He was a farmer and a past member of Lorenzo Masonic Lodge 1144. He was a member of First Baptist church and the Lorenzo Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, of which he was a past worthy patron. A son, Jimmy, died on January 3, 1993.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Bobby of Lorenzo; two daughters, Peggy Alred of Denver City and Patsy McMillan of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brad Marlar, David Alred, Rodger McMillan, Cody Sue, Johnny Casarez and Tommie Marlar. Grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.

Graveside services for Margie Marie Marlar, 93, of Lorenzo were held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the Lorenzo Cemetery with Rev. Ken Bevel officiating. Burial is under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.
Marie passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007 at the Crosbyton Hospital. She was born June 23, 1913 in Lakeview, Texas to the late John P. and Dovie (McCrary) Armstrong. On August 20, 1932 she married Cody Robert Marlar in Clovis, New Mexico. He preceded her in death July 24, 1994.
A homemaker, Marie moved to Lorenzo in 1935 where she was a member of the Lorenzo First Baptist Church and the Lorenzo Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Marlar who passed away January 3, 1993, by two brothers, C. J. Armstrong and Deward Armstrong and by a granddaughter, Shelia Casarez who passed away Feb. 6, 1994.
Survivors include a son and his wife; Bobby and Beth Marlar of Lorenzo, two daughters and their husbands; Peggy and Jimmy Alred of Denver City and Patsy and Herschel McMillan of Lubbock, a brother; Charles "Sonny" Armstrong of Flippin, Arkansas, four sisters; Alene Lilley of Ft. Smith, Ark., Mozelle Lilley of Dimmitt, Jo Mason of Wildorado, and Nelle Brooks of Amarillo, and by ten grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:00 PM Monday at Adams Funeral Home in Lorenzo.
