U.S.Flag Services for Dewey Malone of Lorenzo were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the United Methodist Church.

Malone, 78, died at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Methodist Hospital.

The Rev. James Putnam, pastor, officiated at the services, along with the Rev. Bruce Parks of the Tulia United Methodist Church.

Burial under the direction of Carter Funeral home of Ralls, was in the Lorenzo Cemetery.

A pharmacist, Malone was born in the Oklahoma Indian Territory and was a Navy veteran of World War I. He married Annie Belle Hill in Perrin, June 3, 1928, moved to Lubbock in 1948 from Dodson, then moved to Lorenzo in 1951.

He was a charter member of the Dodson Masonic Lodge, and in 1971 received a 50-year Mason pin. He also earned a 50-year pharmacy certificate.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Fred P. Wagner Jr. of Lubbock; a brother, Jim, of Vernon; a sister, Mrs. Winnie Wilken of Quanah, and one grandchild.

Pallbearers were Truitt Holland, Tom Birchfield, A.J. Jackson, Harold Campbell, W.O.Lockwood and Tommy McAllister.
