Graveside services for Roy Leon Mackey, 76, of Big Spring were held in Lorenzo Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2001 with the Rev. Ken McMeans from the College Baptist Church in Big Spring officiating.
He died Thursday, July 5, 2001. Burial was under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.
He married Willodean "Dean" Collins on Aug. 5, 1946, in Lorenzo. She died Nov. 16, 1981. He then married Ann L. Tatum on Oct. 1, 1983, in Big Spring.
He was a member of the College Baptist Church in Big Spring, the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Confederate Air Force. He had worked for Hung Energies as a production supervisor for 35 years, retiring in 1984. He moved to Midland in 1980 and had lived in Libya and other areas. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of WWII, serving in China.
He was preceded in death by a son, Eldon Mackey, who died on Oct. 13, 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Ann, of Big Spring; a daughter-in-law, Linn Mackey of Universal City; two grandsons and their wives, Paul and Tisha Mackey of Austin and Steven and Randi Mackey of Arlington; one great grandson, Caleb Mackey of Arlington; two brothers, Ronnie Mackey of Kingsland and E.C. Rector of Lubbock; a sister, Barbara Newsome of Lubbock; one sister-in-law, Ernesteen Kelly of Lubbock; three step-children, Ronnie Cox of Angleton, Renee Casey and LaNita Fielder, both of Big Spring; five step-grandchildren, Thad, Sneed and Brad Fielder, all of Big Spring, Trenae of Anchorage, AK, and Brian Fielder of Austin; and three step-great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Tristan and Nathan.
