Mass for Maria U. Lopez, 73, of Lorenzo was celebrated at 3 p.m. Monday in St. Phillip's Catholic Church in Idalou with the Rev. Gary Frawley officiating.

Burial was in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Henderson-Singleton Funeral Home of Lubbock.

She died at 1:50 p.m. Friday in Lubbock's Methodist Hospital following an illness.

The Ballinger native moved to Lorenzo in 1953. She was a Catholic.

Survivors include her husband, Eustacio H.; five daughters, Estella Fierros of El Mirage, Ariz., Ernestina Rodriquez and Enriqueta Piseno, both of Idalou, and Elida Urive and Eva Garcia, both of Lubbock; a son, Edward of the home; two sisters, Anita Romero of Mercedes and Doloros Hinojos of Lorenzo; a brother, Juan Urista of Lorenzo; 24 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
