The body of a Lorenzo man missing since Dec. 17 was found about 9 a.m. Wednesday in a ditch northwest of the Robertson community in Crosby County, and a 29-year-old Lorenzo man has been charged with capital murder in connecting with the discovery.According to a Crosby County deputy, George William Loftis' body was found by a county employee who was operating road equipment at the time.
Texas Rangers later arrested Richardo Hinojos who was arraigned on capital murder charges Wednesday before Justice of the Peace Wayne LeCroy of Lubbock, who denied bond.
Authorities at the scene said Loftis, 44, apparently died of a single gunshot would to the right eye.
A spokesman said no money had been found on the deceased man, nor was any identification found on the body. He also said no weapon had been seized in connection with the incident.
Services for the Graham native are pending with Carter-Adams Funeral Home in Lorenzo.
Loftis was a mechanic and had been a resident of Lorenzo for the past two years.
Survivors are his wife, Edith; two sons, George Wayne and Lonnie, of the home; a stepson, Randy Shelton, of the home; two daughters, Tracy Amelia of the home and Mrs. Flora Belle Pettit of Lorenzo; four brothers, Jimmie of Lorenzo, Bobby of Dallas, Sammy Joe of Colorado and Eugene of Graham; and three grandchildren.
