Rosary for Gertrudiz Loera, Jr., 58, of Lubbock was said at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at W.W. Rix Chapel in Lubbock.

Mass was celebrated at 1 p.m. Aug. 27, 2001, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Timothy Judd officiating.

Burial was in the Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.

He died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001.

He was born Mar. 23, 1943, in Seguin, and graduated from Lorenzo High School in 1962. He had been a resident of the Lubbock area since 1944 and was a self-employed residential and commercial painter. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Survivors include six sisters, Anita Loera and Matilde Zapata, both of Lubbock, Victoria Esquibel of San Antonio, Paula Garcia of Richardson and Dominga Mendoza and Maria Louisa Hinojos, both of Lorenzo; four brothers, Leopoldo R. and Victor, both of Lubbock, Eduardo of Wylie and Raymond of Navasota.
