Last rites held for Mrs. Leverett, former teacher

Last rites for Mrs. John G. Leverett, 76, Lubbock, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Ford Memorial Chapel, First Baptist Church, Lubbock, with Dr. J. Ralph Grant, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Lorenzo Cemetery.

Mrs. Leverett, a former school teacher and a Lubbock resident 27 years died Monday following a long illness. Born near Harrison, Ark., she moved to Dublin, Tex., in 1890 where she lived until moving to West Texas in 1918. The former Miss Leona Trice, married John Leverett in 1910 in Erath County.

She and her husband had held teaching positions at Estacado, Slaton, Muleshoe, Ralls and Lorenzo, where she lived for nine years before moving to Lubbock.

Survivors include her husband; two sisters and two brothers.

Pallbearers were Roy Head, W. L. Trice, Loyd Reeves, Jesse Cox, Doyle Leverett and Leldon Cox.
