Obituary

Services for Jack Harris Kirksey, 61, of Lorenzo were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 1995, in the Lorenzo First Baptist Church with Rev. Rick McGee, pastor, officiating.

Burial followed in the Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. Mr. Kirksey died at 7:20 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 1994, at his residence.

He was born April 17, 1933, in Brownfield and married Wanell Askew on Sept. 10, 1954, in Dora, NM. He was a member of the First Baptist Church; the Domino Hall; and the Deaf Club of Lubbock. He moved to Lorenzo in 1935 from Brownfield and was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Wanell Kirksey of Lorenzo; one son, Donald Kirksey of Lorenzo; one daughter, Lynn Stevens of Lubbock; and two grandchildren, Leslie Stevens of Lubbock and Nolan Kirksey of Lorenzo.

Pallbearers were Jerry Robertson, J.D. Webb, Hershel Bird, Wayland Houchin, Donald Aycock and Don Nickson.

Wanell KirseyWanell Kirksey 79 of Lorenzo passed away Sunday June 8, 2014.

She was born April 25, 1935 in Turkey Creek Oklahoma to Denver and Leola Phillips Askew. She married Jack Kirksey on September 10, 1954 in Dora New Mexico he passed away on December 31, 1994. She married Elmer Simmons on June 22, 1997 he passed away on December 29, 2009. Wanell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lorenzo, The Lorenzo Senior Citizens, Lorenzo Chamber of Commerce, and was a business owner in Lorenzo for over 40 years.

Wanell is survived by a daughter Lynn Stevens of Lubbock , a son Donald Kirksey of Lorenzo. Three sisters; Fannie Gresham of Plattsburg Missouri, Lela Victor of Dora New Mexico, and Kay Allison of Roswell New Mexico. She also leaves behind three grandchildren; Leslie Stevens, Nolan Stevens, Megan Kirksey and a great grandchild Audra Stevens.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday June 10, 2014 at the First Baptist of Lorenzo burial will follow in the Lorenzo Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo. The family suggest memorials to The First Baptist Church of Lorenzo or the Lorenzo Senior Citizens.
