Graveside services for Vernon King, 79, of Lorenzo were at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 1990, in Lorenzo Cemetery with the Rev. Hoytt Rachels Sr., pastor of Butler Heights Baptist Church in Lubbock, officiating.

Burial was directed by Carter-Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

King died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 1990 in Lubbock's Colonial Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Midland and moved to Lorenzo in 1958. He was a mechanic and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Rosland of Lorenzo and Dwight of Lubbock; a daughter, Joan Perkins of Atlanta, GA.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
