Graveside services for Clarence Rue Johnson, 91, of Lubbock, will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 25, 2009 in the Lorenzo Cemetery with Mark McMillan officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo. Clarence passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at University Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born on November 2, 1917 in the Pilgrims Rest Community near Emory, Texas to Clarence Monroe and Bessie (Hendrix) Johnson.

She lived in Dallas and retired from Dallas Power and Light. She moved to Idalou in the early 1980's and then later moved to Lubbock. Clarence was an accomplished pianist and in her early years played for a quartet on a Dallas radio station. She loved George Strait, going to the mall to eat corndogs and shopping for clothes and jewelry. One of her favorite sayings was "about as useful as socks on a rooster".

Clarence was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Johnson, mother, Bessie Johnson Williams, a niece, Glenna Smith and aunts, Lula Hendrix and Ruth Hendrix.

Survivors include; a sister, Lannie Ruth Marlar, of Lubbock, a nephew, Clifford (Bricky) Marlar, of Odessa, two nieces; Novice Bartlett, of Ransom Canyon and Jo Hayden, of Moore, OK and several great nieces and nephews.
