Jenkins Rites In Roswell

Funeral services were held for John Cooper Jenkins, Friday at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Roswell, N.M., officiated by the pastor, Rev. David Moore.

Graveside services were held at Lorenzo Cemetery at 4 p.m., Friday at Lorenzo, officiated by Rev. John C. Jenkins pastor of First Baptist Church of Lockney.

Born July 19, 1903 in Navarro, Texas Mr. Jenkins died May 30 at Roswell, N.M. He was elementary principal of the Lorenzo School from 1949 until his retirement 1968. He moved to Roswell, N.M. in 1968. He was a deacon in the Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Autie; two sons, J. J. of Roswell, Rister of Bogota, Columbia; one daughter, Mrs. David Ledford of Bowie, Md., nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mr. Jenkins moved to Crosby County in the Estacado Community with his parents, the late Jess Jenkins. He at one time was in the hardware business, and was elementary principal of the Slaton Schools before coming to Lorenzo and had been superintendent of the Muleshoe Schools previous to that time.
