Obituary

Porfirio Guzman Rosary for Sanacislo "Porfirio" Guzman Sr., 78, of Lorenzo was held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, at San Lorenzo Catholic Church in Lorenzo.

Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, june 4 at the San Lorenzo Catholic Church with the Rev. Roland Buxkemper officiating.

Burial was in Lorenzo City Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home of Lubbock.

He died Thursday, May 31, 2001.

He was born Nov. 18, 1922, in Karnes City, where he married Lupe Martinez on July 27, 1942. He moved to Lubbock in 1958 from Karnes City and was a Catholic.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Irene Garcia, on July 17, 1987.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Sonny and Gilbert, both of Lorenzo, and Jimmy of Dallas; four daughters, Elmira Martinez of Lubbock, Maria Jimenez of Dallas, Ninfa Gonzalez of Lorenzo and Olga Calderon of Rosebud; two brothers, Luciano and Guadalupe, both of San Antonio; one sister, Lola Cantu of Karnes City; 26 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Lupe GuzmanRosary for Guadalupe M. "Lupe" Guzman, 84, of Lorenzo will be today at 7 p.m. in Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at San Lorenzo Catholic Church with Father Jose Kochuparambil officiating. Burial will follow at Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home of Lubbock.

Mrs. Guzman passed away on June 30, 2010 in Lubbock. She was born Nov. 17, 1925 to the late Epimeno and Paula Martinez in Karnes City, Texas. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sanacislo Guzman, Sr.; a daughter, Irene Garcia; and a son, Gilbert Guzman.

Survivors are daughters, Elmira Martinez of Lubbock, Maria Guzman of Garland, Ninfa Guzman of Killeen and Olga Calderon of Temple; sons, Sonny Guzman of Lorenzo, Jimmy Guzman of The Colony, Texas and Freddy Martinez of Brownfield; a sister, Helen Trevino of Kansas; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
