Graveside services for Benito Fernandez, 57, of Lorenzo were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 14, 2002, at Lorenzo Cemetery with the Rev. Roland Buxkemper officiating.Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 13 2002, at San Lorenzo Catholic Church.
Burial was in Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.
He died Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at his home in Lorenzo.
He was born June 28, 1944, in Poteet. He married Julia Rangel on Sept. 29, 1999, in Crosbyton.
He was a member of the San Lorenzo Catholic Church and had worked in the road construction business in Lubbock. He lived in Lorenzo for most of his life.
He was preceded in death by a son, Benito Fernandez Jr., a brother, George Fernandez, and two sisters, Celia Fernandez and Maria Hernandez.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Tammy Hernandez of Canyon and Felitia and Roseanne Fernandez, both of Lorenzo; seven brothers, Alfred, Joe, Richard, Jesse Jr., Raul and Paul Fernandez, all of San Antonio, and Joe Martinez of Lubbock; four sisters, Mary Lou Gujardo and Oralia Soto, both of Waco, and Amalia Guererro and Dalia Fernandez, both of San Antonio; and two grandchildren.
