LORENZO Graveside services for R.L. "Bill", of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Lorenzo Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Boles officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.

He died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 13, 1911, in Lamar County. He married Gertrude Childers on March 26, 1938, in Lorenzo. She died March 23, 1973. He then married Vi Gallimore on Dec. 2, 1976, in Lubbock. She died Dec. 25, 1984.

He attended Brookston schools and graduated from Brookston High School in 1928. He moved to Crosby County in 1932 and farmed near Lorenzo for several years. He then moved to Monahans in 1939, where he was engaged in the dry cleaning business for 35 years.

He was a member of the Monahans City Council for six years and was mayor for four years. He served as Ward County Democratic Chairman for two years and served one term as Lions Club president. In 1961, he was appointed to the Farmers Home Administration County Committee, where he served two years. He also was a Century Club member of the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.

Survivors include a son, Jan of Atlanta, Ga.; and two grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Adams Funeral Home in Lorenzo.
