Larkin Dycus photoOn Friday, March 13, 2009 at the age of 90 years and 6 months, Larkin Thomas Dycus passed away. Larkin was born on September 11, 1918 to Jessie Clemmons and Margaret Caroline (Collins) Dycus in Pushmatahaw County, Oklahoma. The family moved to Lorenzo where Larkin grew up and married Altha May (Scoggin) Dycus on March 25, 1939 and would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in two weeks. Larkin farmed in Crosby County until 1945, then farmed in Yoakum County and Upton County. In 1951 they moved to the McCoy community in Floyd County to farm and raise their family. Larkin retired and moved back to Lorenzo in 1984. He was a member of the Church of Christ congregations in Petersburg, Lorenzo and Idalou. He is survived by his wife Altha, his children, Jay Dycus of Lubbock, Tomi and Frank Covington of Dougherty and Anthony and Joann Dycus of Abilene, his grandchildren, Brad and Corinne Dycus of Parker, Colorado, Valerie Henders of Lubbock and Clay and Kelly Trumble of Abilene, seven great grandchildren, Isabel, Abigail and Luke Dycus, Jackson Henders, and Kent, Kole and Kale Trumble, a sister, Nell Joiner of Decatur and brothers, Gene and J. C. (Bug) Dycus of Lubbock.

Memorial services for Larkin will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 16, 2009 at the Idalou Church of Christ with Terry Groves and Bob Martin officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 PM to 5 PM at Adams Funeral Home in Lorenzo.

Altha Dycus photo LORENZO — Altha May Scoggin Dycus, 93, of Lorenzo passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, in Lubbock, Texas.

She was born on Aug. 14, 1921, to Guy Edward and Winnie Sykes Scoggin in Brownwood, Texas. She married Larkin Dycus on March 25, 1939, in Crosbyton.

Altha was a member of the Idalou Church of Christ. She will be truly missed by everyone.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Survivors include two sons, Jay Dycus of Lubbock, and Anthony and Joann Dycus of Abilene; one daughter, Tomi and Frank Covington of Dougherty; a brother, Robert and Pat Scoggin of Rochester, MN. She had three grandchildren, Brad and Corinne Dycus of Colorado, Valerie and Santos Moreno of Lubbock, and Clay and Kelly Trumble of Abilene; and nine great-grandchildren, Isabel, Abigail, and Luke Dycus of Colorado, Jackson Hinders, Alyssa and Brennan Moreno of Lubbock, and Kent, Kole, and Kale Trumble of Abilene.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, in the Lorenzo Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. at the Idalou Church of Christ, David Burton officiating. A visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at Adams Funeral Home in Lorenzo. The family suggests memorials to The Children's Home of Lubbock.
