Obituary

LORENZO (Special) — Services for John Earl Dudley, 66, of Lorenzo, will be at 2 p.m. today in the United Methodist Church of Lorenzo.

Officiating will be the Rev. James Futch, pastor, and the Rev. David Vistine, pastor of Assembly of God Church of Lorenzo.

Burial will be in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Carter Funeral Home of Ralls.

Born in Grayson County, Dudley moved to Lorenzo as a child and lived there most of his life. He married the former Lola Askew in Crosbyton in 1934. He died Thursday evening in Crosbyton Hospital.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Frankie Mae Watts of Hale Center and Mrs. Viola Pearl Dean of Ralls; two sons, Wiley Bean and Van Haney, both of Lubbock; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Burk of Lockney, Mrs. Ethel Cox of Missouri and Mrs. Emma Ferguson of Canyon; a brother, Monroe of Nyssa, Ore.; nine grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Services for Lola Askew Dudley, 100, of Mineral Wells, formerly of Lorenzo, will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2008 at Adams Funeral Home in Ralls with Rev. George Van Hoose officiating. Burial will follow in the Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Mrs. Dudley passed away Saturday, November 22, 2008 in Mineral Wells. She was born October 26, 1908 in Thorptown, Jefferson County, Alabama to the late Jessie and Minnie Lee (King) Askew. On October 27, 1934 she married John Earl Dudley in Crosbyton. He preceded her in death January 2, 1975.

A homemaker, Mrs. Dudley was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Lorenzo. A former resident of Lorenzo for over 60 years, she moved to Mineral Wells five years ago from Anton.

She is preceded in death by a son, Van Haney Dudley and by a daughter Viola Pearl Dean. Survivors include one son, Wiley Dudley of Memphis, Texas, a daughter Frankie Watts of Mineral Wells, 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
