Julia Copeland

Rose Spray
Julia's death certificate no. 50248 and issued in Lubbock County; she was staying in Acuff; Austin had her name spelled Copland instead of Copeland. The doctor saw her on 10-19, she died on Oct. 22, 1929 and was removed to Lorenzo, Texas by Bynum Bros. The date of burial is listed as October 23, 1929. The informant was her son, George Washington Bowlin. He lists her date of birth as April 26, 1843 in Georgia. Her father is listed as Mr. Shed. Cause of death, senility for a period of one year.

Her son, George and his wife, Mary Ella and their son Jim are also buried in Lorenzo.

Julia was first married to William H. Bowlin, probably around 1860. He was from Shelby County (although not certain if he was born in Tennessee but his family moved in the mid 1820s.) They received a large land grant there. His father died around 1835/40 and his mother, Lucinda Rogers Bowlin remarried, first to a man named Willis, then to Matthew Morgan McCall. William died in 1873 in Williamson County and Julia remarried Jasper Newton Copeland. They did not have any children together. He passed on in 1897 I believe. She lived for a time with her daughter and son in law, William Darling Hendrick and Martha Bowlin. She appears in Bell County census in 1900. After that, I assumed she went to live with her son George in Lorenzo. I can't find marriage information on William and Julia. I tried in the Williamson and Shelby Counties with no luck.
