Pioneer Cone resident dies near Borger
Funeral services for Thomas Allen Cartwright, 83, were held at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the Assembly of God Church at Fritch, near Borger. Graveside rites at 4 p.m. in Lorenzo Cemetery.
Cartwright, a Fritch resident, was born in Wise County. He moved with his family to Crosby County in 1901 by covered wagon and settled at Cone. The family lived in a tent and later a dugout, until a house could be built.
He was also a former resident of Lorenzo and tax assessor of Crosby County.
Survivors include his wife, Laura; four sons, Harold Cartwright, Borger, Johnnie Cartwright, Fritch; and Odell and Jim Cartwright both of Oklahoma; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Taylor and Mrs. Lois Still, both of Borger; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Noble, Cone, and Mrs. Alice Tupper, Woodland, Calif.
