Earl Canter U.S.Flag   Services for Earl W. Canter, 73, of Lorenzo will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Lorenzo First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Williams and the Rev. Jerry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.

Earl passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005 at his home in Lorenzo.

He was born Oct. 6, 1932 in Bristol, Va. to Ernest Andrew and Sarah Mae (Horton) Canter. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1956. On April 10, 1956, he married Johnnie Mae Pyle in San Angelo. They moved to Lorenzo in 1959 and he went to work for C & B Pump, which later became Lorenzo Pump and Machine. He retired in 1991. Earl was a member of the Lorenzo First Baptist Church, served with the Lorenzo Volunteer Fire Deptartment for 30 years, where he served for a time as Fire Chief. He was a member and past president of the Lorenzo Country Club and member of the VFW.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include: his wife, Johnnie of Lorenzo; a son and his wife, Barry and Melanie Canter of Ft. Worth; a daughter and her husband, Earlene and Rick Rampy of Lorenzo; 2 brothers, Clint Canter of Chilhowie, Virginia and Muncy Canter of Bristol, Virginia, two sisters, Lacy Grogan and Nancy Smith both of Bristol, Virginia, six grandchildren, Paige Canter, Casey Canter Guzman, Jared Canter, Jalyn Canter, Rikki Rampy and Lance Rampy; and one great-grandchild Cayden.

Serving as casket bearers will be Brett Rampy, Lance Rampy, Jared Canter, Josh Arthur, Tim Arthur and Dick Van Hoose. Honorary bearers will be Bobby Marlar, Wayne Pyle and John Brock.

The family suggests memorials to the Lorenzo First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 310, Lorenzo, Texas 79343 or to VistaCare Hospice, 1010 Slide Road, Lubbock, Texas 79416.
