Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Mae Bryant, who died last Wednesday at Lubbock's Methodist Hospital, were held at 2:30 pm Friday, March 27 in Lorenzo Church of Christ. Officiating were the Reverend B. C. Stapleton, minister, assisted by Douglas Lawyer of Olton. Interment followed in the Lorenzo Cemetery.

Mrs. Bryant, 66 was born in Parker County and has been a resident of the South Plains area since 1917. Survivors include her husband, E. C.; a daughter, Geraldine of the home, and a sister, Mrs. Dovie White of Modera, California.

LORENZO (Special) — Services for Ewin Clary Bryant, 79, of Lorenzo will be at 2 p.m. today in the Lorenzo Church of Christ. Ralph Moore, minister, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Bryant was one of two elderly area residents killed in a two-car collision at 3:44 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 62, two miles east of Lorenzo. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Justice of the Peace Clyde Davis of Crosbyton.

A passenger in the other vehicle, Lela Juanita Harris, 68, of Denver City was dead at 5:12 p.m. on arrival at Lubbock´s Methodist Hospital. Justice of the Peace Wayne LeCroy ruled the death accidental.

Her husband, Guy Tom Harris, 77, also of Denver City, was in serious condition today in the intensive care unit at Methodist Hospital. He reportedly suffered lacerations in the crash.

The Harris couple was taken to Methodist by Ralls Ambulance.

Department of Public Safety reports show that Bryant, who was driving a 1973 Chevrolet was going north on a county paved road and the Harrises were traveling east on U.S. 62 when the cars collided at the intersection.

The Milam County native had been an area resident since 1917 after moving here from Parker. He attended college in Canyon.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Tinnie Fay; a daughter, Geraldine Bryant of the home; a stepson, Billy Ray Compton of Beaumont; three stepdaughters, Alice Fay Alexander of Garland, Jaqueta Ann Cantrell of Caddo Mills and Madleen Kizer of Crockett; and six stepgrandchildren.
