William Floyd met his wife Tava Greer in Estacado, where she was raised and had graudated from the school system. Floyd became the Superintendent of Schools at Estacado, Monroe (now called New Deal, Texas) and Daughtery. Floyd bought a farm in the Lorenzo area south of town and started farming in 1937.
LORENZO (Special) Graveside services for Tava Blankenship, 86, of Plainview will be at 11 a.m. today in Lorenzo Cemetery with Lane Reading, chaplain of Hospice of the Plains, officiating.
Burial will be under direction of Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview.
She died Monday, Nov. 20, 1995, at her residence.
She was born April 28, 1909, in Fary. She moved to Plainview from Lorenzo in 1972. She married Floyd Blankenship on Aug. 9, 1926, in Slaton. He died June 16, 1980. She was a Baptist.
She was a homemaker and a school teacher.
Survivors include two sons, Bill and Bob, both of Plainview; a sister, Ovie Bowers of Lubbock; 11 grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
