Veteran   LORENZO (Special) — Graveside services for Oliver "Dump" Ballinger, 77, of Lorenzo will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Lorenzo Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Golden, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial is under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Ballinger died at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday in Lubbock´s Methodist Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Becton and was a longtime Lorenzo resident. He married Lida Mae Thompson Dec. 19, 1936, in Idalou. He was a carpenter and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Nell Dawson of Fairfield, Calif.; four brothers, Paul of Wichita, Kan., Walter of Clarendon, Lawrence of Plainview and Donnie of Cisco; two sisters, Ladona Weakly of Wichita and Dorothy Farmer of Lake Placid, Fla.; a grandchild; and two great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Lida Mae Ballinger, 76, of Lorenzo were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 1991, in Lorenzo Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Golden, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial was under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Mrs. Ballinger died at 6:05 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 1991, in Lubbock´s Methodist Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born May 22, 1915 in Cottonwood and was a longtime resident of Lorenzo. She married Oliver H. "Dump" Ballinger on Dec. 19, 1936, in Idalou. He died on March 26. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Vernell Dawson of Fairfield, Calif.; a brother, Howard Thompson of Eastland; two sisters, Bessie Hill and Lou Foster, both of Crisco; a grandchild; and two great grandchildren.
