LORENZO (Special) — Services for Curtis Arnold, 82, of Lorenzo will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Lorenzo Church of Christ with Joseph Johnston, minister, officiating.

Burial will be in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Arnold died Thursday, March 13, 1997, in Ralls Nursing Home.

He was born June 19, 1914, in Emory. He married Oleta C. Cain on March 3, 1962, in Lubbock. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and he moved to Lorenzo from Austin.

He was a carpenter, and he built Time Freight in Lubbock. He built schools in Lakeview and other areas, and he was named superintendent of the Southwest.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Bob Nelms of Austin; three daughters, Elaine Thompson of Artesia, NM, Ann Anders of Lubbock and June Steinmetz of Pacific Grove, Calif.; a brother, Donald of Lubbock; three sisters, Fern Tipton of Idalou, Joyce McCary of Littleton, Colo., and Virgie Wikel of Melrose, NM; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Oleta Cleo Arnold, 89, of Lubbock, formerly of Lorenzo, were held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 27, 2006 at the Lorenzo Cemetery with Joseph Johnston officiating.

Mrs. Arnold passed away Friday, November 24, 2006 at VistaCare Hospice in Lubbock. She was born February 7, 1917 in Oklahoma to the late Roy and Bertie (Hightower) Cain. On March 3, 1962 she married Curtis Alvin Arnold. He preceded her in death March 13, 1997.

She is also preceded in death by her first husband; Austin Nelms, a daughter; LeWanda Nelms Wood, a grandson; Steven Wayne Stewart, two brothers; Odell Cain and Otis Cain, three sisters; Elsie Triplett, Opal Goodwin and Mildred Grizzle and four infant brothers and sisters.

A homemaker, Oleta previously worked in the restaurant business for many years, including owning Tony's and the Spare-Rib in Lubbock. She enjoyed cooking and fishing and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son and his wife; Bobb and Carolyn Nelms of Knoxville, Tennessee, a granddaughter; Brenda Fowler and husband Danny of Lubbock and their children, Erik Fowler, his wife and two children of Arlington, Texas and Misti Fowler of Colleyville. Also surviving are two additional granddaughters; April Nelms Fariss, her husband and two children of Knoxville, Tennessee and Julie Nelms Fuller, her husband and six children of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Survivors also include a brother; Leonard Cain of Angleton, two sisters; Juanita Royal of Ft. Worth and Virginia Hunt-Royal of Dallas, and a host of nieces and nephews.
