Graveside services for Ruth Young, 98, of Lorenzo were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Estacado Cemetery.Burial was in Estacado Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.
She died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002 at Heritage Oaks Nursing Home in Lubbock.
She was born March 14, 1904, in Estacado. She married M. Earl Young in 1926. He died in 1950.Ruth was a member of the Lorenzo Church of Christ. She had worked at the Lorenzo school lunchroom. She was a graduate of Estacado High School and then taught math and algebra at the Estacado school. She lived in the Estacado area all her life.
She was preceded in death by a son, Nelms Young, and a granddaughter, Traci Young, who died Oct. 14, 1983. Also preceded in death by a brother, Nat Michael and by six sisters, Ruby Wingo, Jennie Fox, Emma Stockton and Lucy Henderson-Jones.
Survivors include a son, Dale Young and his wife Mary, of Lubbock; a sister, Jack Moore of Lorenzo; and one grandson, Nelms Young, Jr., of Florida.
The family suggests memorials to Estacado Cemetery, c/o People's Bank, Box 490, Lorenzo, TX 79343.
