Rance Smith passed from this life into heaven on Sept. 5th after suffering declining health since a stroke in 2007.
Joel Rance Smith was born July 24, 1940, in Lorenzo, Texas and after graduation from college, was a high school coach and principal in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. In 1968, he went into business in Tempe, Arizona and lived with his wife of 48 years in Arizona until moving into the Lake Creek area in 1999.
He is survived by his wife, LaRhea and two sons, Zane (Shannon) and grandchildren Huston, Keelin, Alexis, Hadleigh, Gallatin and McKinnah of Earlville, New York and Rhett (Alice) and two granddaughters, Sarah and Brenna, of Scottsdale, Arizona; a brother Kenney Smith (Wanda) of Denver City, Texas; and sister Jeanne Thomas of Midland, Texas. His parents preceded him in death.
A viewing will be held at Conger Morris Morturary from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2009. His life will be celebrated at the Conger Morris Funeral Chapel at 10 a.m. Friday, September 11th. A graveside service will be held in Texas.
