Charley Ellis, a pioneer boy of Estacado, came with his parents, Steve and Jennie Ellis, to Crosby County in 1887.

Charley was an expert cattleman. He moved to Amarillo where he served as cattle inspector until forced by illness to retire. Charley has been called to the last roundup in the skies. His spurs have been hung up for the last time. Yet to the old-timers, who knew him and loved him, he still lives in their hearts.
