Obituary

Funeral services were held Sunday in the First Baptist Church, Crosbyton for O.W.Young, 63. Young died Friday from injuries sustained when the pick-up truck he was driving skidded on slick ice, hit a culvert and overturned. He was knocked unconscious and he did not come to before he died.

Young, a member of the McAdoo Baptist Church, was the manager of Wilson and Young Lumber Co., Spur. He came to Crosbyton in 1923 and operated cafes there until 1944.

He was a charter member of the American Legion Post in Crosbyton, had served on the school board and city commission and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include the wife, Velma; six daughters, Marietta and Margaret Sue, both of the home. Mrs. Leonard Wilson, Lubbock; Mrs. E.W. Schrader, Edinburg; Mrs. Jimmy Godfrey, Spur; Mrs. Bobby George; and six grandchildren

Interment was in Crosbyton Cemetery.

Burial was in the Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Young died Tuesday, December 26, 2000, at Crosbyton Clinic Hospital.

She was born on March 30, 1916, in Sweetwater. She married O.W. Young on June 26, 1946. He preceded her in death March 18, 1960. She was a member of the McAdoo First Baptist Church. She moved to McAdoo in 1948 from Spur. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Hamilton of Abernathy and Mary Eldredge of McAdoo; three sisters, Reba McArthur of Lubbock, Lucille Walters of Irving and Bootie Vardeman of Mt Pleasant; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
