Little Son of J.O. Wooten Drowns in Surface Tank
The little 21 months old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Wooten who live on the East Plains, fell into a surface thank [sic] last Friday and drowned. The child had slipped away from the house and when they missed it they went out to look for him and found the little body floating in the water and ice. It is thought the child had walked out on the ice and the ice not being thick enough it went under.
Immediately after the body was taken to the house a message came for the mother to come to Lubbock where their oldest daughter was to have an operation. The daughter is reported doing nicely at this time.
We join the entire community in extending sympathy to the bereaved ones in this trying hour.

Little Walter Dean Wooten, about 21 months old, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Wooten of East Plains, was drowned in a stock tank at their home last Friday. Funeral services were held at the Crosbyton cemetery Saturday by Rev. H.M. Reed. At the time an older daughter was very sick at a sanitarium in Lubbock, but is now improving. May the dark clouds of grief and sickness soon be gone, is the wish of many who sympathize with them.
