Obituary

Funeral services for Kelton Winegar, 77, of Crosbyton were held at Friday, July 312, 1992, at 4 p.m. in Crosbyton´s First Baptist Church with Rev. Lester B. Griffin, pastor, and Rev. Ernest Stewart of South Plains, officiating.

Burial followed in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Mr. Winegar died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 1992, in Lubbock´s Methodist Hospital following a sudden illness.

He was born July 7, 1913, in Comanche County, TX, and moved to Crosby County in December 1935 from Desdemona, TX. He married Nellie Belle Spence Jan. 17, 1938, in Idalou.

He was a farmer and a member and past Master of the Crosbyton Mason Lodge No. 1020, a member of Scottish Rite Masonic body, the York Rite Masons and the Shriners. He was also a member and past Patron of Crosbyton Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mr. Winegar was a member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church where he was a deacon.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Karen Voight of Crosbyton; two brothers, Arlind Winegar of Long Branch, TX, and M.A. (Joe) Winegar of The Colony, TX; one sister, Obanetta Newsome of Henderson, TX; and two granddaughters, Becca and Beth Voight of Crosbyton. Mr. Winegar was preceded in death by two brothers, W.T. Winegar and Thurston Winegar.

Graveside services for Nellie Winegar, 89, of Crosbyton, will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at the Crosbyton Cemetery with Rev. Les Griffin officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Nellie passed away Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at the Crosbyton Nursing Home. She was born April 29, 1919, in Crosbyton, to the late Richard Mack and Wealthy Starrett Spence. On Jan. 17, 1938, she married Kelton Winegar, in Idalou. He preceded her in death on July 29, 1992.

She had lived in the Crosbyton area all her life, was a member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Nellie is preceded in death by four sisters, Georgia Newman, Floy Moore, Alene Thornhill, and Alma "Bill" Winegar.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Karen and Ronnie Voigt of Crosbyton; two granddaughters and their husbands, Becca and Dean Fant of Lubbock, and Beth and J. W. Johnston of Crosbyton; four great-grandchildren, Krysten and Tyler Fant, Brooklyn Pope and Shay Hollums.

Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton.
